Although Newport is a small town it does offer the essential amenities. There is a Post Office, Newsagent, Bank with a cashpoint, hardware store, pharmacy, butcher and small supermarket all clustered around the crossroads of the Main Street and Long Street. There is some free on street parking and a ‘pay and display’ public car park in Long Street. This car park is free from October to March and charges a very reasonable 30p for 2 hours for the rest of the year.
The area is a magnet for arts and crafts and there are a couple of dedicated craft shops and many of the shops and cafes sell works by local artists.
